Weekend Update 2002-05-06
Spent the entire weekend working on the flowerbeds in the front yard… I was exhausted by the time I was done. But check them out; they look pretty good. Now just need to get fertilizer for the flowers.

So tonight I get to see another house– maybe the one I’ll buy. Cool! Also, Cate’s in town and she’s coming over to see it with me, then we’re going out to eat.
I bought The Sims this past week, and I’m very addicted. I have a whole little neighborhood built to manipulate… fun fun fun! This really takes the stress off looking for a house.
(2010 Note: This would be the Sims 2. When they came out with 3, the aging time limits made it no fun anymore. To much anxiety trying to get ahead before my characters got old. Too much like real life.)
I like busy weekends where I don’t have to much stuff I’m obligated to do, but lots of stuff I can do. I went out to see Crackhead Patty Friday night at Utopia. Probably an experience I won’t repeat. Then Saturday I stained my end table, went shopping with Dan and Doug, and went to David and Garrett’s wedding. Sunday I stained my end table again, then went to Dan and Doug’s house to help move (but I was probably in the way more than I was helpful). I’m so excited that they are going to live right near me. Cool. They’re officially living in the house now. Then I went to the Le Tigre concert at Festivilla. There were lots of cute women there. Lots. Cute.
Big fat social weekend it was. I went to the pitch-in looking for Lori, but stayed to talk to Tonya, then went to the State Fair with Dan and Doug and Jim and Chad on Saturday, had a meal at Jim and Chad’s, then went to a party to meet Jason’s boyfriend Chip. Seems like I’ve seen Chip somewhere before.
Now, not only can I have an action figure made of myself, I can have my very own trading cards, as well. My superhero dream is finally coming true.
And it turned out to be a complete weekend of big bangs… we did fireworks, the city blew up a building, and then [insert diety of choice] decided to chime in with his/her own pyrotechnics. The power was out for three hours yesterday during the big storm. And ironically, I couldn’t find the matches (we used them all), and the lantern batteries were burned out. I had planned to mow the lawn, do web work, and go shopping, but couldn’t do any. So I layed around and read a book by candle light. Cool. I just started the complete, unexpurgated version of The Arabian Nights. Appropriate bedtime reading, no?
Party went well. Stacy made a ton of food. We set off tons of fireworks, too. Not everyone came that I hoped would, but oh well.
And they blew up Market Square Arena this morning, too. I know that there’s history to the place and all, but it was a really ugly building with uncomfortable seating.
The Road to Springfield: [link deprecated] Vote on your favorite supporting character in NCAA playoff-style matches. To be eligible, the character must have appeared in at least two episodes. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie are ineligible.
This weekend was laid-back but pretty busy: I went to the lesbian picnic on Friday night. Saturday, we did a brief run through the Talbott Street art fair, peered in the windows of Dan and Doug’s new house (they’re closing Wednesday) and ate lunch at Bazbeaux. On Saturday night, I went to R. Bistro (Massachusetts Ave.) with Dan, Doug, Garrett, Amy, Jeremy, Jennifer, Barb, Michelle, and Ralph. David’s the manager, there; it’s a new restaurant. Nice place; definitely go.
I spend Sunday working on the lawn and “verandah”. I finished putting up hooks for hanging plants, then planted the Snow-in-Summer seeds and Black Eyed Susans, then I went and bought a hanging plant and a bunch of small plants for the front flower bed.
Someday, I’m going to actually have a three-day weekend where I accomplish all the stuff I need to accomplish and yet still have time to relax and enjoy myself. I got a lot done, it’s true. However, the mountain of junk that’s still left to accomplish is threatening to tumble down around me. And I really have to learn to say no to people.
Boy, it has been a grand week of me bitching about things, hasn’t it? I just want to go home and sleep. But no; there’s too much to do.
Had a really productive weekend, but have discovered that I still have TONS of work to do. i spent the weekend working on the house and the lawn, doing laundry and dishes, hanging pictures, etc. I still have a lot of work to do on my Dad’s website, and I discovered when i logged on tonight that I have a TON of requests (25 of them!) for work to be done on the gayindy.org website. I’ll have to get to them tomorrow night. And we have 15 pages to mock up for a hot new project at work – to be done by Wednesday. Ack!
I’ve recovered, somewhat, from the stress of this weekend. My “service engine soon” light came on in my car, and I freaked out about that on Friday, but it turns out I didn’t put the gas cap on tight enough when I got gas, so when I got a new tank last night and fired up the car this morning, it was no longer a problem.
I went to the Pitch-in Friday night at Deb B.’s. It was pretty fun; we played Cranium. I spend all day Saturday doing laundry at my mom’s; hopefully that will “tide” me over until I can get in the new place. Yesterday I took pictures of some big stone mermaids my friend Lori told me about; they’re at her uncle’s business on the southside. I also took photos of my new rental house and wandered around in WalMart looking at gardening supplies and outdoor furniture.
