I’ve been sick since Wednesday

Ended up taking Wednesday, part of Thursday and Friday off work, and I also laid around in bed all day Saturday, too with a stuffy head/runny nose/sore throat. Yikes. Thursday night was the single women’s dinner at Rock Bottom — met a bunch of nice women. And the Fever won again on Saturday night. Very cool. I bought a McCarty jersey.

Weekend Update 2002-07-22

This weekend I finished painting the foyer and entryway, which now looks great. I also bought a round table for the foyer ($20) and a hat rack ($12) both of which I need to refinish. I got started on both yesterday afternoon. The table isn’t perfect, but it’s the right size. I’m thinking of painting a giant yin/yang symbol on top.

It is hot as hell here in Indiana. Thanks for the global warming, Bush. Wanker.

Here’s what I’ve been watching on TV:
Ground Force (BBC America)
Changing Rooms (BBC America)
Trading Spaces (TLC)
Big Brother 3 (CBS)

Oh, yeah, and the new season of Sex and the City. Of course, this might have something to do with the fact that there’s nothing on the freakin’ TV. Summer is boring, damn it. And no, don’t e-mail me and tell me to read a book. I already do plenty of that.

rights you no longer have

A breakdown of the rights you no longer have under the U. S. Patriot Act. War on Terror my ass. More like a war on the U. S. Constitution.

What I did this weekend… scraped and painted more of the house, stripped and refinished the window to go in the entry hallway. Now I need to finish stripping the outside of the window and get glass for it. I’ll have photos up when I’m finished…

Explanation from a Plastic user on how he lost weight:
I don’t watch fat cals. I don’t eat bread, pasta, and rarely eat white potatoes. I only eat brown rice, early in the day.
A typical day of eating is:
Breakfast: protein drink or a few egg whites with a cup of oatmeal, with a banana or Equal
Mid morning: can of tuna and a green veggie
Lunch: chicken breast and microwaved sweet potato
late lunch: yogurt and/or high protein bar
dinner: green, leafy salad with small amount of tomatoes with chicken breast or can of tuna
I supplement with a good multi-vitamin and exercise.
Exercise regimen includes running 3-4 miles 4 times a week and regular weight training (real weight, progressive resistance).

I went home at lunch

I went home at lunch to look at my gutters again while it was full-scale raining. I don’t think the top gutters are still leaking. I think it’s just that there is rain dripping from then naturally. There was plenty of water running down the downspout. I’ll be able to tell more if I watch next time it rains.

Burglar Alarm

So I set off the burglar alarm this morning by accident. Oops. I climbed out on the roof to cut down some tree limbs so they wouldn’t grow into the roof. Then I went downstairs to move them and take pictures of the new gutters, etc., and I forgot to turn off the alarm when I went out. So the police came, and Dan came over. Sorry about that, Dan.
The gutters look really good. The one in the front on the top roof is still leaking, though, because it’s the galvanized steel gutter on top of the roof. He caulked it, but it’s still got holes, although it isn’t as bad as it was. I don’t know whether to call him and ask him to come back or to just leave it and have it looked at again later in the year. But the gutter near the door is back on the house, and the ones in back look good. In general, the house looks better, which is what’s important. I’ll have photos up tomorrow of all of it.

weekend update and fan fiction

So, this weekend, I saw Minority Report on Friday with Dan and Doug, then went to the Metro softball diamond to watch the Mutual Friends softball game and hang out with Michelle, Deb, Lisa & the team. Then I went to Dan and Dougs and fell asleep watching Atlantis (very boring Disney movie).
I went to my dads on Saturday, and hung out with my family, then dropped by Sunil’s party. Met Barry’s new friend Alice; she seems nice (Hi Barry!). Talked to Joel and his wife and Jen.
On Sunday, I laid around the house and watered the lawn and basically did nothing but read a book. Although today, the guys are coming to fix the gutters, so I guess that’s progress. I did get some more of the entry window woodwork stripped, too. I think the next big investment project is going to be installing the water hook-up for the washer and dryer. Then I’ll worry about the living room. Because going to the laundry mat sucks. I’m thinking that I might want to have them installed upstairs in the back bedroom. There’s already pipes running up there through the kitchen, so it might not be as hard. Plus, then I wouldn’t have the running up and down the stairs issue. The only problem is that it would take up a lot of room in the back bedroom. I’ll have to think about it more closely.

Mostly, you just look through and see other fans websites; most of them have some fan fiction. I’m in there somewhere, although I haven’t written any Buffy fan fiction. Except in my head, of course.
