My Cat Hates You

Considering my cat Idgie, you would think this website [mycathatesyou.com] is actually by me. But it’s not. Although my cat will probably be on it soon, when I send in a photo.
I thought it might be true, but it’s nice to have facts and figures to support your personal observations – a study by professor John Cowley indicates that beautiful people are paid more than people who are “ugly” or considered overweight.

Personalized Action Figures

Now, not only can I have an action figure made of myself, I can have my very own trading cards, as well. My superhero dream is finally coming true.

And it turned out to be a complete weekend of big bangs… we did fireworks, the city blew up a building, and then [insert diety of choice] decided to chime in with his/her own pyrotechnics. The power was out for three hours yesterday during the big storm. And ironically, I couldn’t find the matches (we used them all), and the lantern batteries were burned out. I had planned to mow the lawn, do web work, and go shopping, but couldn’t do any. So I layed around and read a book by candle light. Cool. I just started the complete, unexpurgated version of The Arabian Nights. Appropriate bedtime reading, no?

Phantom of the Opera

Well, nothing like a night at “Phantom of the Opera” to make you lose your melodramatic, overly emotional mood. 🙂 Sometimes I feel just like that Phantom Guy, with people just taking stuff from you and then running away with the hot guy at the end, and leaving you alone with all your gothic decor….. it’s so sad, I feel I should break into song. “all I ask of you……”
ahem.

komodo dragon

And now a few words from the komodo dragon on his side of the story.

I don’t want to call nobody a liar or nothing. This is just what I know. But one thing I’m tired of hearing about is how I mistake this guy’s foot for a white rat. Komo didn’t make no mistake. I don’t see so good maybe, but I flick my tongue out I can smell this bum from three miles away. Komo knows what the fuck he doing.

So the man takes his shoes and socks off and he walking around in there in my house. The man Jay is in there too. I tell you something. I don’t want to offend nobody, but people smell bad to Komo. People don’t smell like a food. Komo like a nice deer. That’s some good eating! The man don’t smell like that, but you know I get hungry. I didn’t ask this guy to come into my house at lunchtime. Now there’s a lady with yellow hair outside and she’s taking pictures. She tells the man to move around to other side. This Komo’s bad side. This is L.A., you know. Lady should know better. So now Komo a little steamed. Komo bite the man.

Also, I’m well started on the big writing project. Cool cool cool. I’ll try to work on it more tomorrow.

honesty is the best policy

I like the phrase “honesty is the best policy.” It sort of implies that you’ve tried other policies, and realized they didn’t work. It’s not one of those “because I said so” kind of instructions. It’s like the voice of experience talking. Sort of : “I’ve been a big liar, but it really wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be.”

The Road to Springfield

The Road to Springfield: [link deprecated] Vote on your favorite supporting character in NCAA playoff-style matches. To be eligible, the character must have appeared in at least two episodes. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie are ineligible.

This weekend was laid-back but pretty busy: I went to the lesbian picnic on Friday night. Saturday, we did a brief run through the Talbott Street art fair, peered in the windows of Dan and Doug’s new house (they’re closing Wednesday) and ate lunch at Bazbeaux. On Saturday night, I went to R. Bistro (Massachusetts Ave.) with Dan, Doug, Garrett, Amy, Jeremy, Jennifer, Barb, Michelle, and Ralph. David’s the manager, there; it’s a new restaurant. Nice place; definitely go.

I spend Sunday working on the lawn and “verandah”. I finished putting up hooks for hanging plants, then planted the Snow-in-Summer seeds and Black Eyed Susans, then I went and bought a hanging plant and a bunch of small plants for the front flower bed.

birthday!

It’s my birthday, and Beth bought me new new comic book Fray by Joss Whedon, which is very cool. My co-workers took me out to dinner, despite my persistent grumpiness, and I got fortune cookie and free dessert. Doug called to wish me Happy Birthday. Very cool.
