We passed this bus on the way home from Thanksgiving in Iowa. The two guys in it had obviously decked it out as an RV. It was cool, and I thought about the many art car possibilities.

Bottle Cap Art Car Project – the finale

We took the Art Car to Michigan City this weekend to turn it over to Stephanie’s niece Raven. Stephanie went up on Saturday and taught her how to drive a stick, and I went up on Sunday to help finish up work on the car and to drive Stephanie home. We ended up finishing most of the car – the roof and two corners of the bumper are all that remain to be covered with bottle caps, and Raven has enough to finish them up.

It was kind of bittersweet; we love the car but really don’t need it. Raven most certainly will benefit from a way to get to and from work without having to catch a ride. But working on the car was so much fun, and the finished product turned out really awesome. We’re anxious to do another one someday.

I don’t always vote straight party, but I did this time. I knew who all the down party people were for the most part, and the few I didn’t know I looked up before I went. The lines were quite long, but the moved very quickly in the city-county building. Very much worth it to avoid longer lines on Election day, especially when rushed to go to work.

I completely failed to mention this before, but I’ve had several more of my photos published. Previously, my pictures were in Indiana Curiosities: Quirky Characters, Roadside Oddities, and Other Offbeat Stuff by Dick Wolfsie.

Recently, some of my Route 66 photos were published in the Journal for the Society of Commercial Archeology (yes, a real scholarly journal).

And I have some photos appearing in the just published book Weird U.S. – The ODDyssey Continues: Your Travel Guide to America’s Local Legends and Best Kept Secrets by Mark Moran.

Which is cool, because I own the first edition of that book, and they sent me a complimentary copy of the new one, which I’m really excited to get. It came in the mail while we were in Arizona.

So, I’m adding “published photographer” to my resume.
