Today we went live with our redesign of InformIT — the website I work for as a web designer or “Human Factors Engineer” to be official about it. I’m terribly proud of the design — it’s minimalist and light on graphics, and very readable. There’s a lot of me in there, along with my co-workers Rich Evers and Mike Packer. We certainly had a meeting of the minds on design on this site and we’ve never worked so well together. I feel like I just gave birth, and I couldn’t be more happy. Please, please, check out the site.

enough rainbows!

I have to say, even though it’s probably politically incorrect, that I’m really sick of rainbow crap. I certainly don’t want to hide the fact that I’m gay. But I don’t think I need tacky tchotckes and knick-nacks anymore to let everyone know that I am. I still have my first March on Washington t-shirt from 1987 and it has rainbows on it. So I’ve been wearing the stupid things for 15 years now. And I’m saying enough!

Weezy is upset

Rarity vewy sad

(2014 Spoiler alert: I got over it. But in my defense, there were rainbows on EVERYTHING in 2000-2005. It was a little much. Thankfully everyone’s pulled back a bit.)

We’ll call it…

Why is it that when someone utters the phrase “We’ll call it….” when trying to introduce a new phrase or idiom, that whatever they come up with is invariably stupid? Idioms don’t come from pronouncements. They happen colloquially. In case you’re wondering, this is in reference to something specific someone said to me. Don’t worry, it wasn’t you.

Viva Las Vegas!

Wow. So that was Las Vegas. Wow. And I didn’t lose much money. Cool. This was a great trip! I didn’t think I’d care for Vegas because it’s so artificial, but I LOVED it.

I went with Dan and Douglas, and we spent most of one day visiting many of the casinos on the strip; we started at the south end at Mandalay Bay and had a drink and played some daftar situs slot gacor slots and took photos at various casinos as we headed back north. If you’re interested in casino games, then you might want to visit online casino sites like slot gacor to enjoy an exciting casino experience from the comfort of your own home.

I realized that for some reason, there are always major things going on in my life that I for one reason or another fail to mention in my weblog. Why? Hmmm. Major things:
1) I’ve been buying lots ($$$$) of things on eBay. What? Not telling; don’t want to encourage people to bid against me. But I have a kick ass collection. Someday you’ll all see it. I love eBay. eBay rocks. Here’s some eBay purchases I can tell you about….

My junior high tennis shoes

Hey, look! It’s the tennis shoes that got my ass kicked in junior high school. Some genius has scanned the 1980 JC Penney catalog and put it online for you to peruse. I wonder if they also have the “Chic” jeans my mom made me wear; the ones that got me beat up in the gym locker room. Yeah, thanks for the memories, man. Thanks a lot.

Living Room Ceilings

Ripped down half of the crumbling plaster ceiling in the living room last night. It was remarkably easy. Just have to do some clean-up tonight and finish the ripping down, do some clean up tomorrow night, and I’ll be ready to do drywall. Dunno whether to work on the floor before drywalling or not. Pictures to follow this weekend.
