I now have 16,9903 people in my personal network. I’m sure this has something to do with the fact that Willy Wonka added me to his friends. Everyone is friends with Willy, because as Sammy says, he makes a groovy lemon pie.

2019 update: Ah, those halcyon days when social media was a toy we could play with and not a tool that would destroy democracy.

Supreme Court Strikes Down Sodomy Laws

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court struck down a ban on gay sex Thursday, ruling that the law was an unconstitutional violation of privacy.

The 6-3 ruling reverses course from a ruling 17 years ago that states could punish homosexuals for what such laws historically called deviant sex.

Laws forbidding homosexual sex, once universal, now are rare. Those on the books are rarely enforced but underpin other kinds of discrimination, lawyers for two Texas men had argued to the court.

The men “are entitled to respect for their private lives,” Kennedy wrote.

The first March on Washington on October 11, 1987 was in protest of the Supreme Court upholding a similar law in Georgia. That was just after I came out, and was the first big gay rights event I went to. I was still in college at Ball State, and it was one of the most cathartic events of my life.

My Love Life

A couple of people have asked me about my page on Friendster, and why it says I’m single. Here’s the scoop, so I don’t have to write a bunch of e-mails about it. Kathy and I aren’t dating anymore, but we’re still good friends. Basically, she’s dealing with a lot of stuff right now; she’s finishing her Masters and looking for a job, which is stressful. She’s also in an intense place in her therapy, dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and our romantic relationship wasn’t helping with her therapy. So we decided to evolve our relationship, because her healing is the most important thing. Kathy is really my best friend; she knows me better than anyone and I love her with all my heart. So there you go.
