Songs for a New Day
One of the first CD mixes I made to give my sweetheart, Stephanie, filled with songs that made me think of her.

One of my favorite blog sites, What Do I Know, has a great iTunes Playlist of guilty pleasure songs from younger days, entitled the Dumpster Diving Playlist. It’s now available in the iTunes store as an iMix. What a great list!!
Oh my god… I’m totally buying these.
I’ve Never Been to Me (Remixed Single With Dialogue) – Charlene
The Warrior – Scandal
A couple of years ago, Doug and I put together a similar list from the 70’s entitled “Cheesy Hits from the 70’s.” I never posted the entire playlist to my site because it’s nine CDs worth of music. Someday, when I have more time, I’ll have to bite the bullet and put it on my site and link off to iTunes. But a number of the tunes on the Dumpster Diving list are on our compilation, too.
Interesting article I found on Boing Boing about blue-tooth mobile phones that recognized other blue-tooth enabled devices around them and keep track of their IDs, eventually building a list of “familiar strangers” or people who are often in your immediate area.
National Straw Hat Day has been the traditional day of the spring season that men officially put away their winter felt hats and put on their new straw hats.
Visit Hats In the Belfry and buy yourself a nice straw hat. You deserve it.
So I was watching Ellen, and she had a rapper on and they were talking about bling, and how he had to remember to put on all his bling before he left the house, and I realized that I have to do the same thing… only my bling isn’t jewelry; it’s my iPod, digital camera, cell phone, car stereo face, laptop, watch, pedometer, burglar alarm remote control, and sunglasses.

Really, I wonder about the world sometimes. This kind of thing, and bad interior design really shake me up.
One of the things my mom has been doing lately is knitting hats for the Ships Project, which distributes hand knitted hats and socks to soldiers stationed in Afghanistan, Iraq and around the world. I didn’t realize how cold it is in some of the places the soldiers are stationed, even in the Middle East. The pictures of all the troops modeling their hats are really cute.
She’s also been knitting tiny little hats for the Stitches From the Heart program, which gives the hats to newborns and premies in hospitals all over the country. Before that, she was making american flag quilts that got sent to each of the family members of the 9/11 victims.
I don’t say enought that I think my mom’s a really wonderful person.
If you want to participate in the Ships Project, visit their website for more information on how to join the program.
