First the president said the war was about “ridding Iraq of weapons of mass destruction”. But they haven’t located any significant weapons of mass destruction. If and when we do, there won’t be very many, they’ll be degraded and not deliverable to the U.S., meaning they were never a threat to anyone. Then Bush decided that the war was about creating “regime change”. Now suddenly, we’re talking about Iraq as a platform of spreading democracy through the Middle East. If our goals keep changing, how do we know we’re successful? Oh, right, we’re not supposed to notice that.
