Jamaican Sun

We are headed to Jamaica tomorrow for my youngest brother Gary’s wedding. This is incredibly exciting because we’ve had a lot of traumatic stuff going on lately, including Stephanie’s mom’s long illness and death from liver cancer on May 19th of this year. We really need a vacation, we need relaxation and fun and frivolity

Road Trip: New Jersey

We have a number of weddings to attend this fall, and the first is Stephanie’s cousin Alex’s, which is taking place in New Jersey. This road trip we’ll be seeing the other half of Stephanie’s family; we saw most of her mom’s family last fall. Lance is ready to roadtrip. The ear pieces from my

Destination: Iowa

After getting back from Boston, we’re out the door again heading to Iowa for a family wedding. As always, we have a house sitter when we’re out, so stalkers and burglars beware. It will be nice to visit Iowa in spring weather; nice lighting for photos.

SXSWi 2008 post game analysis

I made it home from Austin last night rather late and went to work this morning. Unlike the trip out, the flight home was rather uneventful. Thank goodness. We didn’t get our luggage until late Saturday night, so I basically had two nights without my CPAP machine, which the Airlines had told me to pack

SXSWi 2008

I’m going to SXSWi this year. Yay! The trick is, though, that we have a big corporate conference in Boston March 2-4th, and then I’m leaving for Austin on March 6th – March 11th. So I’ll be home one day in between two trips. Fortunately, Boston will still probably be cold; Austin will be warm.

Morning, Day 16 in Santa Rosa, NM

We made it back to our desired destination last night, although rather later than we wanted. The restaurant we ate at in Flagstaff was an old Route 66 place called Granny’s Closet, that used to be home of the very first fiberglass muffler man/lumberjack statue. They donated it to the University of Arizona as a

Route 66: Did I say 5 other beetles? I meant 12

We finally pulled into the motel at 11 Chicago time, and saw a huge row of beetles lined up; very fun. Too dark to take photos. Traffic in Chicago sucked hard, but we managed to get into town, finally. We parked in a scary-ass parking garage with the steepest ramps I’ve ever seen, and went

Happy Thanksgiving!

We’re getting ready to head out to Grandma’s for Thanksgiving day. Our trip yesterday was pretty uneventful. We drove Stephanie’s Beetle (named Phoebe, for those of you who are just joining us) because it’s a fun roadtrip car and somewhat more comfortable than my truck. So I had the opportunity to take pictures out the

Holiday recap

Between the weekend before Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, my girlfriend Stephanie and I: 1) decorated my house and put up my tree, then did the same at Stephanie’s house. 2) Attended Six family Christmases involving 3 road trips (my Grandma’s in Iowa, my mom, my dad, Stephanie’s mom, Stephanie’s Dad and Stephanie’s friend Michelle’s
