Bush eliminates prevailing wage for Katrina rebuilding workers

Check out the very last paragraph of this Reuters article:

Bush also issued an executive order on Thursday allowing federal contractors rebuilding in the aftermath of the hurricane to pay below the prevailing wage, drawing rebukes from two congressional Democrats who said stricken families need good wages to rebuild their lives.

And speaking of politicians taking the time to loot their share after the Katrina disaster, check out this IndyStar article, in which our own Rep. John Hostettler, R-Ind refused to support the Katrina aid bill, and Mike Pence sees opportunities to make more tax cuts.
Then there’s these greedy politicians:

Rep. Baker of Baton Rouge is overheard telling lobbyists: “We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn’t do it, but God did.” Baker explains later he didn’t intend flippancy but has long wanted to improve low-income housing.
