May 31, 2007 Futurama – 1939 World’s Fair vision of 1960 by Hawthorn Mineart, under Movies Fascinating what came true and what didn’t. Part 1: And Part 2: Wil June 1st, 2007 Facsinating. I was particularly taken with the opening when the narrator talked about the vision of “a generation of men”. The women were obviously at home baking and sewing. Also, in the second clip, the talk about highways displacing “outmoded business sections and undesirable slums”. He didn’t say they wouldn’t exist – we just wouldn’t see them. Of course since this was produced by GM, the emphasis was on highways and transportation. Very interesting. Wil.
