Book Meme: What I’ve Read

The National Endowment for the Arts has an initiative you may have heard of called the Big Read. According to the website, its purpose is to “restore reading to the center of American culture.” They estimate that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they’ve printed.

Here’s what you do:

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list on your own blog.

    Why is The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe on there at #36? It’s included in The Chronicles of Narnia, which is #33. Other book series (His Dark Materials, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter) don’t have individual titles listed separately…

    Yeah, and Hamlet is part of “Complete Works of Shakespeare” too. Dunno how they made this list, because the list at the NEA isn’t exactly like this…
